What is Botox?

Botox is a substance obtained from a bacterium that provides temporary immobility in the muscles, thus reducing wrinkles.

  • Anger lines between two eyebrows

  • Horizontal lines in the forehead area

  • "Crow's feet" lines around the eyes

  • Bands that cause pulling on the neck

It can be treated with botox.

Why can certain lines and wrinkles be treated with Botox?

Botox treats dynamic lines on the face caused by muscle movement. Dynamic lines are formed by the folding of the skin on the face as a result of the contraction of the muscles on the face. These facial movements are facial expressions such as frowning, raising the eyebrows, smiling, squinting the eyes. In addition, the treatment of wrinkles that occur due to volume loss, independent of muscle movements, is filling methods.

How does Botox work?

Botox works by softening the muscles that cause wrinkles. It is only effective in the area where it is made. Its effect lasts for about 4 months. Afterwards, if the same effect is desired to continue, the process is repeated.

How does Botox application and its aftermath occur?

Botox application is almost painless. A very thin needle is used during the procedure, however, a slight sting or pressure may be felt. These feelings completely disappear after the procedure.

It is normal to have slight redness after the procedure and it will disappear within a few hours. The face should not be massaged or rubbed for the first 24 hours. The person should stand upright for the first 4 hours, not bend over, and not lie face down for the first 3 days.

When does the effect of Botox begin?

Although the effect of Botox begins in approximately 3 days, it takes approximately 2 weeks for the effects to fully take effect.

How long does the effect of Botox last?

The effect of Botox lasts for an average of 4 months, sometimes it may last longer or shorter depending on the person's structure.

Should Botox be done again after its effect wears off?

The effect of botox is temporary, that is, when the effect wears off, the person's face returns to its state without botox. It does not become saggy or wrinkled, and it even has an anti-wrinkle effect as it reduces facial expressions. Therefore, it is not true that once you have Botox, it needs to be done constantly. If the person wants to continue to have the same appearance, he can have it done again.

What other treatments are performed with Botox?

Treatment of sweating with Botox: It is used in patients with excessive sweating in the armpits, palms or soles of the feet. After repeated treatments, the need for Botox decreases and the time between two treatments increases over time.

Gummy smile treatment with Botox: It is applied to patients whose gums are exposed excessively when smiling. After the procedure, the muscle that is overactive and raises a lot during smiling is less lifted, and a more attractive smile is obtained.

Teeth clenching treatment with Botox:The masseter muscle, which is the largest chewing muscle, also creates the angular appearance of the jaw. Patients with very strong masseter muscles, those who have teeth clenching problems, or those who want their jaw to have a less angular appearance will benefit from masseter botox. Generally, after one or a few applications, teeth grinding complaints decrease or disappear as the muscle will not be as strong as before.
